First US Food Ingredients Promotion in Latvia

On September 29, 2016 Ambassador Nancy Pettit hosted a promotion of U.S. products and ingredients at the Kennedy Reading Room at the National Latvian Library in Riga, Latvia.  The event was organized by FAS/Warsaw, the United States Embassy in Riga, U.S. Meat Export Federation, Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute and the California Prune Board; with Almond Board of California, California Walnut Commission, California Wine Institute and Washington State Wine Commission providing promotional materials. Promotion attracted over 50 key decision makers from Latvia’s food, retail, HRI industry as well as media and bloggers.  Exhibiting cooperators and companies reported12 month projected sales valued at equivalent of U.S. $70,000 (mostly through new retail/restaurant entry of beef, salmon, black cod, almonds, and cranberries).  This was the first promotion for U.S. industry representatives and Latvian importers to showcase samples U.S. beef, salmon, black cod, prunes and almonds.
