Following a hugely successful seminar in Milan last year, AHEC hosted another architectural seminar in Rome on November 13, 2018.  AHEC’s David Venables and The Plan magazine’s Nicola Leonardi discussed ‘Wood in architecture between creativity, technology and innovation.’  They were joined by Andrew Waugh, Co-founder Waugh Thistleton Architects who touched on the big ideas behind MultiPly – a 9 meter high tulipwood CLT modular maze and landmark project of the London Design Festival 2018. Benedetta Tagliabue, Co-founder of Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, delved in to the poetic design of Weaving Architecture, a woven fiberglass and U.S. red oak installation presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018. Andrew Lawrence, Associate Director of Arup, discussed the ingenuity behind the longest glue laminated American white oak beams ever made in Europe at Lord’s cricket ground.
