On March 8th, International Women’s Day, Chargé d’affaires Jennifer Bachus visited the Proud microbrewery in Pilsen, one of the Czech breweries participating in the 2022 Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day. The international project, featuring pink rain boots as its distinctive symbol, celebrates women in the beer industry and supports their professional development and education. The success of the activity is demonstrated by the number of brewers from around the world that participate in global crafting of the exclusive Pink Boots hop blend from Yakima Chief Hops, a global supplier of U.S. premium quality hops, to create their own craft beer specials on or around March 8th.
“I am very pleased that we can celebrate International Women’s Day with Czech beer makers that make such innovative and delicious local craft beers with U.S. hops. We appreciate that local brewers decided to join the Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day and contribute to fundraising for educational scholarships tailored for professional women in this industry”, remarked Chargé d’affaires Bachus.

“I love activities like Pink Boots Brew Day since they link people together who love beer making. I believe one of the major benefits of this initiative is about drawing attention to women in the beer industry. Although still surprising for many people, this profession is no longer dominated by men. I wonder how our hopped APA, American Pale Ale, named „Raise Your Glass”, will turn out this year”, stated Lenka Strakova, Proud’s brew master.
