The popularity of nuts and dried fruits in the Netherlands is rising. One of the largest exporters of almonds, pistachios and walnuts to the Dutch market are the United States. Besides that, the U.S. is the largest supplier of cranberries and (dried) plums to the Netherlands.

On July 2, 2018, American producers of these products and a number of Dutch food bloggers visited the Miele experience Center in Vianen for a cook workshop with Dutch celebrity chef Hidde de Brabander, famous from cooking channel “24Kitchen.”

During the event, the participants learned more about the nutrition and health benefits of these products and met with growers from the United States who shared some interesting facts and exciting stories about their products.

At the end of the day, some great meals were prepared using the following U.S. products: dried plums, dried cranberries, pistachios, walnuts and almonds.

The cooking class was organized by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) The Hague.
