On April 27 and 28, FAS Zagreb co-sponsored the First International Symposium for Zinfandel wine with the theme “I am Tribidrag (Zinfandel)”, paying homage and linking the U.S grape variety to its forefather.  This promotional event targeted Croatia’s hospitality sector (chefs and restaurant owners), wine importers, wine wholesalers, wine retailers, wine producers and globally known leading lifestyle/culinary/food industry journalists (for example Jancis Robinson, British wine critic, journalist and wine writer).  Highlights of the event included a presentation from a U.S. scientist, sponsored by FAS Zagreb, who conducted the DNA sequencing that revealed the origins of Zinfandel and received a medal of honor from the President of Croatia for her achievement.  The event hosted 150 participants from Croatia, Italy, the United States and the Balkans.  Five U.S. Zinfandels from five U.S. wineries (Lytton Springs Ridge Vineyards, Ravenswood Winery, Michael David Winery, Turley Wine Cellars, and Carol Shelton Wines) were showcased/tasted at the event.
