‎”Chargé d’Affairs David Kostelancik gave remarks on sustainability at an international conference on sustainable farming – Budapest, October 18, 2017.

Since Hungary assumed the Visegrad Group (V4: Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia) presidency, it has emphasized forming a stronger and more influential political and economic unity in Central Europe. In strong cooperation with the Government of Hungary, the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture also plays an opinion-forming role in the alliance of agricultural chambers of V4 countries.

As a part of their international activities, the Chamber held a large scale professional conference on sustainable farming in Budapest, at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on October 18, 2017. They wanted to use this event to generate a unified response to issues such as sustainability and the EU’s common agricultural policy.

Regarding the global challenges of sustainability, special attention was given to U.S. examples at the event. Chargé d’Affairs David Kostelancik and Professor Sylvie M. Brouder from Purdue University (Indiana) gave informative presentations about U.S. agricultural policies, bioeconomy, and innovative farming technologies with special regard to their economic, environmental, and social aspects.”
